“The Motown Phenom” made his welterweight debut in May against former
lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos and lost via fourth round
submission. This week, he announced his return to lightweight, claiming the 170-pound division has “gotten a little stagnant.”
Fans may be biting on the BMF belt that Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz
will be fighting for in the UFC 245 headliner on Nov. 2 in New York, but
Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is not.
Johnson has teased a possible UFC return, particularly eyeing a
heavyweight bout with current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but
has also entertained the idea of fighting top heavyweight contender
Francis Ngannou. If he does return, Johnson wants nothing to do with
fake belts.

“If I’m gonna fight for a title, it’s only gonna be for the title
that’s gonna count, and that’s the heavyweight title. I don’t want these
fake ass BMFs,” Johnson told MMA Junkie recently.
“At the end of the day, they’re going to say the Bad Motherf—er is
supposed to be the champion, right? It’s imaginary. It’s trash.”
Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will be fighting to see who is the true BMF of the UFC at UFC 245, but that isn’t the only good fight of the night. Loaded with great fights, the whole card will be worth a watch. Here’s a quick rundown of #UFC244.

WHERE IS UFC 245 Live?
UFC 245 is being held at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
It
will be the fourth time the UFC has held an event at MSG after it
debuted at the historic fight venue in 2016 with the UFC 205 showdown
between then-lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor.
The
following year, Michael Bisping lost his middleweight title to Georges
St-Pierre, and in 2018, Daniel Cormier earned a slick second round win
over Derrick Lewis for the heavyweight title.

The first fight on the main card will feature Johnny Walker.
He’ll get his next big test against Corey Anderson, who’s a great
wrestler. Walker’s been on an amazing run so far and if he beats
Anderson, then he can expect to fight for the title next.
After that is Derrick Lewis and Blagoy Ivanov. They’re both heavyweights so expect to see a knockout. Lewis is also a funny guy, so be sure to watch his interview if he wins.
Next up is a fight between Stephen Thompson and Vicente Luque. Luque is a rising star who’s knocked out or choked-out the vast majority of his opponents. Thompson is a veteran kickboxer
who’s knocked out many men in his long career. This will not only be a
great fight between two heavy-hitters, but it’ll also be Luque’s test to
see if he’s ready for a title shot.
The co-main event of the night will be between Kelvin Gastelum and Darren Till.
Both men fought at a lighter weight class before moving up to
middleweight, and now the two knockout artists will see who can hurt the
other one the most
After Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) failed to come to terms with
Colby Covington to fight its Welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, in
UFC 245’s main event next month, the promotion turned to Jorge Masvidal
and Nate Diaz. Indeed, the two men will headline the pay-per-view (PPV)
card, which takes place inside Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.,
on Nov. 2, 2019, and the victor will walk away with the “baddest

Unsurprisingly, Covington feels the same way, saying Diaz and Masvidal are nothing but journeymen
not worthy of true title shots. Still, despite many mocking UFC’s
decision, the showdown between the two top-ranked Welterweights is as
intriguing as it gets. Furthermore, the winner will likely earn himself a
shot at the 170-pound title, which will be defended on Dec. 14, 2019,
as Covington will finally take on Usman in UFC 245’s main event in Las Vegas, Nevada
